Board service

An operator’s view from the board table.

Eight directorships — one public company, seven private — and advisory roles to the chief executive and executive chairman of two Nasdaq companies. Candor with composure: direct in the room, supportive outside it.

What Edwin brings to a board

First-hand, not briefed.

Technology and AI governance

Has migrated an enterprise to Azure, retired co-located infrastructure, consolidated five product stacks and shipped agentic AI into a commercial product — and since 2025 has built an agentic AI platform himself. Can tell an AI strategy from an AI press release, and asks about technical debt before it becomes a write-down.

CEO evaluation and succession

Six CEO tenures and two years assessing management teams in buy-side diligence. Knows what the first 90 days should look like, and can tell a board early whether a plan is being executed or narrated.

Margin and capital discipline

Gross margin 50% → 70% and expense run rate $55M → $38M at Marchex; operating expense halved at Everest; Infodata returned to profit with no outside capital. Comfortable pressure-testing a budget line by line without breaking the operating team.

Product and go-to-market strategy

Two repositionings carried through sales, product and disclosure at once — Everest’s on-premise-to-cloud conversion and Marchex’s move to vertical, AI-driven analytics. Can tell a board whether a repositioning is real or cosmetic.

M&A and integration

Sales of Infodata and Everest as CEO, a five-company integration at Marchex, the Hexis Cyber Solutions divestiture at KeyW, and buy-side diligence across a sponsor’s pipeline.

Regulated environments and sponsor fluency

Ran a public company serving classified government programs alongside pharmaceutical and financial-services customers. Two years inside a private equity firm: the reporting cadence, value-creation discipline and exit readiness sponsors expect of a portfolio board.
